While this could certainly change over the course of 2022, it definitely seems like Nintendo is going to remain pretty silent about this game until it knows for certain when it will hit store shelves. In fact, no new trailers or teasers of any sort have even been released since the first logo for the game was shown back at E3 in 2017. Both Nintendo and Retro Studios haven't said a word about when the game might be slated to come to Nintendo Switch. Metroid Prime 4 is one of the most highly-anticipated games coming to the Nintendo Switch and. Nintendo has just announced that all development on Metroid Prime 4 has been scrapped and the project is starting over from scratch with the aid of Retro Studios, who developed the first three Metroid Prime games. Obviously, there's no way to actually know this for certain, but many took this message to be a disappointing one when it comes to any potential launch for the game in the near term. ![]() ![]() In short, they inferred that for Retro to be hiring for key roles on the game's development team at this point in time must mean that MP4 is still a long way off from release. Its been a few days since the stunning announcement from Nintendo that Metroid Prime 4s development is being scrapped and restarted, which means it will. Some of these responses were simply happy to see Metroid Prime 4 mentioned whatsoever, but others were far more negative. While the message was aimed at potential job candidates, fans ended up flooding the post with responses. A healthy Metroid series and an inspired Retro Studios are both key ingredients to Nintendo putting their best foot forward, so while I hope to learn a bit more about the game in 2020, I’ll gladly sit through however long of a delay it takes to get us a title worthy of the Metroid Prime series and of Retro Studios. On social media this morning, Retro Studios put out a public call to let prospective developers know that it was hiring for a pair of new roles at the company to work on Metroid Prime 4. The studio seems like it was suffering from tough times for one reason or another, but revisiting the Metroid Prime series may get them back int heir groove. Metroid Prime 4‘s delay will hopefully produce an incredible game, but beyond that, the return to familiar territory may even help reorient the apparently wayward Retro Studios, who, despite tons of rumors, has not released a game since Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze in 2014. Shigeru Miyamoto’s famous quote has been repeated millions of times, but it is worth reiterating here: “a delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.” I think everyone can agree that in the grand scheme of things, it’s best for Nintendo to take the time to ensure that their game lives up to the hype. Waiting is not fun, but we’ve had plenty of other great games in the meantime, and when we finally can join Samus in her next quest, there is a significantly better chance that it lives up to the incredibly high bar set by its predecessors. Nowadays, one year is a drop of time in the world of game development, so it is understandable that we are still in the dark as to when Metroid Prime 4 will come out, or even when we will even receive a more positive update with details such as a premise or gameplay. ![]() Bringing the masterminds behind the acclaimed original Metroid Prime Trilogy back into the mix was an exciting move, but it also delayed the title indefinitely. Nintendo decided that the change was necessary because the game was struggling to meet their quality standards, suffering from a lumbering, troubled development cycle. ![]() One year ago today, Nintendo announced that the perpetually mysterious hype machine Metroid Prime 4 would begin development anew at the hands of Retro Studios.
